THE KNOWING

All's quiet on the Eastern front...
Well, not much to report from the heart of the universe; n-y-c. All's quiet, I'm enjoying have two days in a row a week off and riding my bike more.

The poker guys I worked for are away in Vegas for the World Series of Poker and filming their reality show to air on G4, 2 Months $2 Million. We'll see how that turns out, should showcase their degenerate gambling lifestyles.

With nothing really to report besides bbqing on my roof whenever the mood strikes me and drinking a lot more these days, I'm going to bike nerd out. Avert your eyes now if you don't give a fuck and/or are annoyed by that sort of shit, I know when you don't give a damn it sounds like drivel. See you next post!

Anyway...

Awhile back I sold the Pista to fund a Bareknuckle build that didn't work out. I sold the 56 BK frame I had ordered from EAI for el cheap just to get the same frame in 54, the geo is kinda crazy on that bike but I like the feel, it's a nice Dedacciai tubeset and I miss steel. Otherwise the Concept and the Giant roadie have been gettin a lot more love than they had as of late, so I guess that is a success in itself. I am missing how perfectly my old steel Pista fit me, but the Concept is the same geo and I'm reminded of how fine a bike that one is most days. New bike day is quasi delayed until next week when my 54(? weird, right?) BK frame comes. For those wondering the BK frame is a FUCKING HIGH bottom bracket and it totally fucks the standover to ridiculousness. Kinda makes it rough for long torso dudes like me, the 55 TT of the 54 BK frame will be the shortest in the stable, but lately I've been riding my track bikes with aggressive saddle-bar drops and track bars, and my back's getting used to being more aggro in general from riding the Giant (a 57 effective TT with a 110mm stem) and it's just more comfortable when goin fast, which I'm doin more of lately.

I was humbled in april when I visited Van and was all outta breath behind luke on the climbs, it's hard to find a real climb here in the city outside the parks, but my daily commute includes the Manhattan bridge these days so that's better than it was I suppose. Gettin stronger though mashing 48x15 on the Concept, and it's fitting better than ever with the 167.5 Omniums on there instead of the Dura Ace/Phil (going to the BK when it comes). I'm hoping to get out to Queens to hit the track once a week, but these days I settle for training in Prospect Park with my buddies from the shop.

The BK will be spec'd with this group (already assembled and ridden on the 56, which was amazing just way too tall in the standover and a MASSIVE headtube):

Nitto B-127 Anatomic Drops in black Toshi cloth (took the tip on the cloth tape from Luke)
Nitto CT-80 100mm stem
Nitto S-83 seatpost
Selle Italia Flite Ti Perforated Black Leather (the o.g. flite, not that ugly new shit) Saddle
Chris King No Threadset Black Sotto Voce
Black Bare Knuckle 54cm
Black H+Son to White Phil hubs with black Sapim Bladed Spokes
Dura Ace 7600 165s on Phil SS BB
Vertex Gold Chain
49x16

I'm hoping the smaller frame feels right. The 56 made me chuckle out loud every time, I felt like I was riding a tallbike. Too bad they didn't have any more purple 54s :(, but the bike's gonna be all black tie event now, so it'll be tight I think.

I do miss having a bike I could lock up and totally not give a fuck about, but having nice bikes is nice too. I've sort of been stocking up slowly on bike shit I think I'll need/want in the future and getting it now while I can use my employee discount at the shop, as I'm still planning to move to Vancouver in the fall with my 3 bikes.

Enough is too much! Sorry if I bored you!

It's a scorcha!
In a sweaty daze I've finally remembered to post something here. It's hot here. 40+ for you canadians, and about a million degrees for us yanks. Varanasi. Look it up. It's where they burn bodies on the Ganga, as well as using the river for bathing, drinking, garbage disposal, sewage outlet, fishery, etc etc.

India has been pretty mackadocious thus far. Spent the better part of my time in Sikkim over in east india. Saw some himilayas, met some monks, you know the normal stuff. Bought a goat, killed it (well my friend did), ate it. It was innocently delicious.

Taking lots of pictures, thought the vast majority will sell for higer end mountain peak boringness to old people hopefully. I'm not inspired by my work, but when am I ever. sigh. Anyway... Everything on the indian front is rocking pretty ok. I ahve plans (visa nightmares excluded) of heading to russia in july for a week or two, then over to korea to meet up with my friend in seoul, and then my brother and his lady who are oging for a two week spell to install a piece in some gallery outside of seoul. Ought to be neato.

the trip will probably cease post korea, due to the fact that I gotta find me some income stateside. 26 two days ago, time to settle down? Meh probably not.

I think texas might be the spot again. lovely shrimp and oyster filled winter with a hint of big oil and cowboy culture. I can dig it. and tex mex, lots of tex mex.

It's too hot to from complete thoughts, so keep on keepin on.

I GET LONESOME

BIG, BIG NEWS OF TODAY!!1!
and delivered so well. y'all keep up with wednesdays with reda? cause you should. i think reda causes a majority of my genuine laughter.

in other earthshattering news, GHOSTIES IS PLAYING VANCOUVER! on friday. it's never happened before due to pseudo-illegal nature of performing across borders but i'm so stoked to have my brother playing a show in my town. if you live in/around vancouver or wanna crash my house, you have to be at music waste on friday. The fest is dope and the GHOSTIES show is at The Shed, at 10th and Prince Albert (1 block east of fraser) and is 6-9pm, prolly good by ~7.

i'm stoked that you're stoked too.

DIAMOND BLOOD

I just wanna fuck every girl in the world…

as reported earlier, nosebleeds 3 is done and i've got fifty of these bad boys looking for good homes. if you're a lurker in van, you can pick one up at Solder and Sons or The Regional Assembly of Text. both are on main, cordova and 23rd, respectively. even if you're not looking for bleeds, check 'em out.

i just printed myself some shirts to sport, and i feel the need to get back into the game. i've got some projects coming up, but i'm dreaming real bigger. i'm gonna need some help to do this right. dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, ya know?

i've fully acquired the taste for new weezy.
not every girl, almost every girl.
