THE KNOWING

Back East from the Far East
As promised, my pick of the litter.

Fun times bowling in a mall in Bangkok seemingly entirely devoted to knock-off goods. Think asian street market, times a football field, times 10 floors. INSANE.

What up Portland? Brian F. from HKfixed/Rodafixa in Central, Hong Kong's Courage Cyclocross bike. Handmade steel from Portland, Powered by Campy SR 11 setup for cross, Zipp 404s, Edge fork, TRP Magnesium Cantis. Sick ride, I'll spare you more deets. Nice guy, tiny tiny closet of a shop - Brian doesn't really make any money from it, he just has a lease for 2 years and is seeing what kind of scene he can promote in HK, currently maybe 80-90 riders riding fixed he estimates.

They really pack that shit in. Check out Ed Burtynsky's China series. No exaggeration, really. Shit's crazy. Bathroom = glorified shower stall with a sink and a toilet, no tub or curtain, drain in the floor.

The famous goldfish market in Mong Kok, Hong Kong has maybe 20 stalls lining a block or 2 like this.

Victoria Harbor I believe. Harbour for the brits.

Hua Hin beach in Hua Hin, Thailand. Looked pretty much like any south pacific beach; palm trees, naked europeans, hotels, yadda yadda. Pretty and relaxing outside hectic ass bangkok.

An ominous warning from a parking lot in HK.

This is a seriously huge buddah. Like really fucking big. Took a gondola ride into the mountains from near HKG airport to get there.

I'll tell you about it later, when I adjust to the 180 time difference...

WTF? Awesome
SO van has been great, minus the incessant rain. Have to say I saw that one coming though. Been drunk as a skunk, high as a kite, mellow as jello etc. As a host, Yvonne is unmatched and there's a lot of love in the air from the peeps. St. Pats was a drunken brewhaha, and I've been trying to hunt down forms to file back taxes to get some money from these canadian pirates. Looks like i got a few hundo. Taxes, who knew?

I've been called in to consult and assist on a climber in chicago, so I'm going there for three days from here, before heading back to houston. so that's cool

IMAGINATION RADIATION

oopey's in transit, chris is in hong kong, and i'm in the kitchen finishing my last paper, ever. i can't wait to get out there myself. in about two weeks i'll be back to living in vancouver and i can't wait for this summer coming up. game faces people, once i shake this student status it's on. nosebleeds two had a pretty good reception, but nb three is shaping up to be even better. it'll be out next week.

i've got a new bike in the works for summer. it's gonna be unfuckwitable. i just picked up a dyno hub last night which is gonna push this thing over the top. track bike meets cruiser.

get ready. as a matter of fact, you ain't.
