Drawing Closer, Seeing Things From Far Away
Good work on keepin the site moving forward. Patty be gentle with us. But if the ante is upped I'm game. The camera is the only thing in my world right now that is concrete and comfortable. I feed it fresh batteries, give it plenty of space to store, and wipe the lens with a special cloth.
I think I may be getting better, which I haven't felt in a while. Also my post processing is getting more minimalist and succint. I starting to really bask in the harmony that is digital photography. I've been searching for the romanticism of the medium since I first pushed the shutter release on a digi cam and lost my innocence. "Film is the true photography, but I'm broke and so digital is more affordable." This was always my schtick when someone asked me if I was shooting digital or film. (This question is also a good one to ask if you want to sound like a cool photographer type.) Now I have discovered a personal and artistically sound reason to defend digital without feeling like a dipshit. I'm getting to a comfort level where I can take the picture as my light and situation allows with the full intention of putting it through a few tweaks which I've already planned before my finger gets near the shutter. I'm using the computer as an extension of the camera that gives me more options for a better final picture at first capture. I can take less pictures and get more good shots. The pitfall and glory digital is that you can go totally insane snapping shots in a less conscientious manner than with film, so your work suffers from a lack of deliberateness and skill. In situations where it is prudent, I'm beginning to shoot like film. I give myself X number of shots per outing and try to make them count. Accountability people, we can haz it if we wants it. One that note here's some peechurs. Our National Bird, Which Incidentally Sounds Totally Fucked Up When It's Trying to Get Laid. Guess that sort of goes for most things that mate though. Yay nature. ![]() The Thing to See ![]() The Galmour Shot ![]() And Just So I Don't Feel Like a Nature Photographer Too Much, An Abstract. ![]() Mountain Tops and Birds and Rocks, Oopey Posted on 16 Nov 2008 by oopey

Miller missiles for the weekend
![]() So apparently camo is like a fall thing, as evidenced by these sweet limited release beer designs I keep spotting around town and beyond. I hope the companies carry on these schemes with future non seasonal camo beers. Some hot digi camo or always in style desert/winter/jungle colorways. Posted on 14 Nov 2008 by paul
