breaking in to broke
Working at Gotham has severely impacted my ability to not buy shit and made me totally irresponsible with my hard-earned money. But it's so damn fun. Today we found that Specialized has a bunch of old S-Works (their flagship line) bmx frames sitting in a warehouse since 2004 that we swooped for $30. Obligatory Thomson and Phil Wood additions later, I don't doubt the bike will be worth more than I intended. Riding bmx is fuuuun... and painful. Anyway, on top of that I've got a '09 Pista Concept coming in January (after the 4 month wait period) and finally my Dura Ace beauties will get to turn on a Phil spindle instead of that fugly UN54 cartridge BB, thought I do 'preciate Luke for hooking it up - the thought of JIS taper cranks spinning on a ISO spindle irks me in my privates despite Sheldon Brown's approval. Anyway... it was either hook up the DA crankset on something nice or go Campy Record for the Concept frame, and with C-Record ringing up a $370 bill (even at employee purchase program pricing) a new BB sounded much more feasible. Apologies for the boring jargon slinging session I am really quite high right now. Anyway, Phil BB for the 09 Concept. Also considering sale of KHS to fund a road bike build... gearsssss....?

EVERENDING
![]() dave and i rode down to salem the other day. over 70 miles with the route i planned, one way. i turned around and came back but dave kept on to eugene. fun trip. here are some things i learned on the way: -fuel yrself well for long rides + lots of water -there is virtually nothing between portland and salem, and they mostly vote republican -use a brake when touring fixed, save those legs for uphill not down -steel railed saddles are not nice -there really is nothing like hard work go get some Posted on 27 Sep 2008 by luke
NYSee?
Our new band is called "Loose Nukes" inspired by the presidential debate. I suppose it oughta be a hip hop group. Sitting here with chris chou after a day pounding the pavement in NYC. Saw the world trade center hole in teh rground, the liquor mecac of the city, and a whole bag full o crazy. this place is out of control. Portland in a week.
