THE KNOWING

Best Desktop Background Ever...

This is Cabo De Roca, Portugal - the Westernmost point in Europe. Credit goes to my girl Arianna. It's worth making it past the insane hour long bus ride and the continuous fear of violent death to hang out there for a bit.

Sorry for the lack of pics lately... been lazy just using my girl's tiny little mac when all my images are here on my PC that I want to punt off the williamsburg bridge. I've got some shizz in the works... comin out soon so look out.

Otherwise, work 5 days a week saps a good bit of my energy. I have definitely gone hyper, which I attribute to my extreme lack of friends here, so I just bike a lot by myself, sometimes with work peeps. Riding here is pretty fuckin insane - continuously weaving in and out of traffic has me sweating from stress even when it's nice out (which it hasn't been) but I'm getting used to it. Anyway riding the KHS clipless is pretty fun, definitely feels different (also due to the fact that I discovered its a fuckin 59cm frame). But yeah, today's my day off and I'm just enjoying the company of my girl Mary J cause it's nasty as fuck out.

New addition to the household is Margot the cat

She's a total bitch but somehow manages to convince me to continue feeding her. Cats will be cats. At least she's a cutie.

It's weird discovering that any and everything can and will be delivered to your door here, from cupcakes to controlled substances.

Anyway - let's hope the stock market doesn't keep fuckin up and look forward to some cooler weather. Dunno if I'll be makin it out to the west coast in October as I'd hoped - but I still have that 1 way DC to Van until next May, so I'm thinkin hit Vancouver, head south and maybe fly outta Portland? We'll see...

DUBYA DUBYA 2
So I''ve been combing through my whathaveyous, trying to find some cohesive works to start pitching to people as shows, series, or whatever else us photographer types can still get. Found these photo's I took probably 4 years ago at the old gun battery up at UBC. I dunno what to do with them, but i like em. With the right printing they would be pretty dope images, in a very graphic sort of way. There's this amazing chromed out paper, which I did some shit with this summer, and it shimmers. However as a single series, they're sort of without a core direction aside from the very obvious. I gotta think on em, but it'd be nice to juxtapose them with something non-photography based. but i thought id put em up before i forget about them again. I suppose in the end they could be perfect to adorn the walls for some wannabe snowboard shop, but we have art degrees and we're better than that?

My Apologies and Some eyes Candies
My friends and I have been hiking the local hills occasionally. did three of the 5 4000 footers in VT a few times, not the other two because they're down south and gas is expensive. After ignoring it for a while, we finally hiked Mt. Mansfield, which would be the tallest peak in the state. You can see clean over to new hampshire one way, and NY the other. The light was totally nuts, and these pictures aren't shopped at all, just some adjustment to the contrast, exposure, and highlight/shadows.

Also as you all know, I had a spot in the local art hop which was a hell of a party, but with some regretable locations for the art itself. My stuff was in a hallway with little to no light, which is fucking bogus cause my work is mostly color based. Oh well, I got drunk and watched them pour molten iron at one venue. It was badass. Note my slick moustache (if you can see it).

Love,
Oopey

enter Genius...
The Flite 100 has now officially become my experimental ride, with the pista retaining old faithful status. Employment at Gotham Bikes has influenced me to change the Flite's setup to something completely different that what it began as - a Flite 100 frame with the Pista's take-off leftovers. Now it's sporting a pretty nice Miche Pistard wheelset, thomson post, sugino messengers, and... eggbeaters... which I rode home from the shop today for the first time with mild success and great fun. It's turning into a black bike which is fine with me, I'll probably just sell it complete and up the Pistadex (Flite-o-dex?) when I inevitably place my order for an 09 concept (wait time already into the new year). Or maybe an 09 track pro? Seatmast looks craaaazy. Anyway, I want something aluminum maybe with a little carbon. But that's for the future when I have money and have paid rent... hopefully. Hope all is well with you, fellow Alaskans - Oopey I will be seein your ass soon!
